This Journey

Thoughts, rants, prayers, sermons I'll never give and other stuff gathered as I make my way through this life.

Grateful – Sweet #16 edition

Some of the things that made me smile this week:

  1. Having DS1 be decisive after the college recruiter/admissions officer presentation. He doesn’t want to go there, but I LOVED that he knew it and said it.
  2. Watching my boy have his senior pictures taken.
  3. Not having to stress out on Sunday because my approval essay was already finished and sent.
  4. Making it through two fitness bootcamp sessions this week.
  5. Not feeling at all bad when my trainer cancelled our Thursday private session because she was sick.
  6. Watching the presidential debate because I got the feeling that a LOT of people are engaged in the process this time around.
  7. A great lunch with SrN on Wednesday.
  8. Skipping choir on Wednesday evening.
  9. Watching "Casablanca" Saturday evening.
  10. Noticing that thighs and waist are getting smaller…and biceps are showing definition…. even if the numbers on the scale WON’T go down.
  11. Having a slightly less hectic schedule this last week.
  12. DS1′s case of mono appears to be mild.
  13. Ten 14- and 15-year-olds in the house Friday night.
  14. Clean sheets off the clothes line.
  15. A good turnout this morning for the forum on "A Minnesota without Poverty"
  16. Two more people that committed to attend the Oct 12 ISAIAH rally.
  17. Updated: Today, a nearby congregation voted to extend a call to my dear friend and mentor KO.

Author: Not Fainthearted

A paradox wrapped in an enigma playing the accordion. I'm a sinner-saint, child of God working at the cross-roads of church and world. A Deaconess called to connect people living near the center with people on the edge and to help your life sing (literally and figuratively) while doing it. People don't always get the deaconess part. Could be the swearing, the corporate job, or the wine.

  1. Weight is nothing but a stupid number. It’s all about inches. Fat and muscle weigh the same, you know, fat just takes up more space.

  2. I’m glad the mono is mild. Ignore your scale and go by how you look. I weigh way more than I’m supposed to, but I run six miles a day, so I look fine. Muscle really does weigh more than fat. it’s not one of those “bog boned” euphemisms.

  3. I’m glad to learn that his mono is mild.

Yay! Gratitude. It’s a good thing.
