I missed last week, due to the retreat. I’m back today with a list of the things that made me happy this last week (or maybe last two weeks.)
- Friends who send me funny emails and funny videos that have nothing to do with politics.
- Ear plugs. I didn’t take them with me last weekend, but they’ve made a huge difference this week.
- Having grown enough to take care of myself without feeling guilty. (next step is to get over being defensive about it.)
- Spending time with friends.
- Having enough to have the heat on already.
- Beautiful trees and nice weather.
- Being in community with a bunch of women who intentionally wrestle with what it means to "be in community" with other human beings….warts and all.
- A very successful rally (last Sunday)
- A very successful forum (today)
- Getting to be the substitute choir director (today)
- Housemates that make an effort for a little birthday celebration when I don’t have the time or inclination to do it for myself.
- Anne Lamott’s book "Hard Laughter"
- Being able to pass on books I love (see #12.)
- Friends who will watch British comedy with me ("Jeeves and Wooster")
- Two goofy boys who are willing to pun around in order to get out of watching British comedy with me.
- Neighborhood celebration of bridge reopening. Watching kids get their faces painted and the local balloon artist, dressed as Captain Jack Parrot, make balloon animals and balloon swords and balloon scabbards for the kids.
- Having the numbers on the scale drop into the next lower decade. (It feels more momentous somehow when you drop two pounds and move below the "0".)
- Libby the Wonder Poodle looking all cute after getting a cut and wash.
- Pumpkin ice cream.
- Colin Powell’s endorsement.
- The sobriquets "Bible Spice" and "Caribou Barbie."

I was happy about the endorsement too.
It sounds like everything else is going well in your life too and for that, I’m grateful.
