This Journey

Thoughts, rants, prayers, sermons I'll never give and other stuff gathered as I make my way through this life.

Grateful – End of January Edition

It’s been quite a week at Chez Journey. Even though it has been quite stressful and filled to the brim with work stuff there has been quite a lot that has made me happy this week and for which I am very grateful. Here’s a partial list:

  1. Obama Inauguration
  2. _45395536_obama_getty512x288
  3. 30 or so friends that came over to celebrate Tuesday night
  4. DS2 earning the Honor Roll at the end of the marking period this week.
  5. Getting the first level of the house cleaned up for the party.
  6. Seeing a terrific performance of Bernstein’s Mass! on Thursday night with my friend SB
  7. Staying home all day Saturday
  8. Not having to buy a new water-heater this week
  9. Having hot water again after 5 days
  10. Playing well last Sunday (a very fun arrangement) and getting through the rehearsal on Wednesday for my solo on the 25th (first vocal solo since grade school!)
  11. A break in the weather earlier this week that even saw high temperatures touching the freezing mark
  12. Watching Emma on Friday night – even having DS2 watching a part of it with me.
  13. Finding all the financial information I needed to give DS1 for his scholarship application
  14. Finding letters from the two schools DS1 has been accepted to that offer him school academic scholarship money based on his high school courses and grades so far.
  15. A great meeting with a new staff member at church.

Author: Not Fainthearted

A paradox wrapped in an enigma playing the accordion. I'm a sinner-saint, child of God working at the cross-roads of church and world. A Deaconess called to connect people living near the center with people on the edge and to help your life sing (literally and figuratively) while doing it. People don't always get the deaconess part. Could be the swearing, the corporate job, or the wine.

  1. I’m super excited about one and two and so glad you don’t have to buy a heater.

  2. What a great week! New leadership, success at work, not having to spend ridiculous amounts of money for hot water and scholarship offers! Maybe January isn’t so bad after all….

  3. Ha, nice #1 and #2…
Glad your heater didn’t go kerplooey. That would indeed suck. And hot water is great. I must say, it’s good I shower most days at the gym – saves on bills.
