This Journey

Thoughts, rants, prayers, sermons I'll never give and other stuff gathered as I make my way through this life.

Grateful: Graduation edition

A partial list of this for which I’m grateful this week:

  1. My Darling Son #1. What an amazing young man he is!
  2. Being able to be away from the office on Friday morning so that I could attend the Graduation dedication ceremony at the high school.
  3. What an amazing group of young adults DS1 is part of.
  4. That I was smart enough to schedule DS1′s graduation party for August 1 and not this month
  5. Starting blood pressure meds (today) and seeing an immediate improvement
  6. the rain today (although I’m not a fan of the 48 degrees!)
  7. Having a lovely Sunday afternoon with G last week.
  8. The surprise conversation with G last Sunday when he asked whether I thought we should start couple’s counseling… not because anything is going wrong but because “I want us to get this right.” and “I want to understand how to love you better.” (Although I really, really don’t know what that means.)
  9. Spending an enjoyable (!) three hours at DL’s graduation party, even talking with M&NJ about Holden
  10. Finding a patio table and chairs on sale at Home Depot
  11. Believing that I don’t have to be on blood pressure meds forever because I’ll be able to lose 30 pounds. Without cutting off any arms or legs.
  12. I have a job that pays me money with which I can pay my bills.

Author: Not Fainthearted

A paradox wrapped in an enigma playing the accordion. I'm a sinner-saint, child of God working at the cross-roads of church and world. A Deaconess called to connect people living near the center with people on the edge and to help your life sing (literally and figuratively) while doing it. People don't always get the deaconess part. Could be the swearing, the corporate job, or the wine.
