This Journey

Thoughts, rants, prayers, sermons I'll never give and other stuff gathered as I make my way through this life.

Grateful: Super Moon Spring edition

What a week! There is so much I haven’t recorded here. There’s so much negative on which I could focus -as the cover of Newsweek records this week. But, as is my discipline, I want to spend a little time focusing on that for which I am grateful. Here’s a partial list for this week (or so):

  • My consecration service and all the people who took part. There’s a whole post here and I probably should actually write it, but for now, let me just sum it up with saying: I’m very grateful that it’s over.
  • That I have 2 (TWO) friends who are about 20 weeks along in their pregnancies. How fun will this be?
  • That the flowers I sent my mom for her birthday arrived on time.
  • That I am finding small ways to feel consultative and helpful at the evil corporate job.
  • For a contracting offer for April – giving me hope that my plan to find a 20 hr/week ministry job and fill in with contracting might actually work
  • For G’s romantic nature and ability to stick with me when I’m at my worst and learning to draw me into being my better self. He agrees that I should look for a weekend for a silent retreat. Maybe the end of April when he is busy with a display. (Although, I need to check on synod assembly dates – I’ve agreed to host a table at one this spring.)
  • For making time to read
  • DS1 being home for spring break this week. He’s gone back to school now, but it was good to have him here.
  • Not getting the horrible cold that has been going around. (yet) I’d like to have some time off, but I’m really not interested in feeling as crappy as these people sound.
  • For spring – the snow has almost all melted this week. I know we still could get another whopper of a snowstorm all the way in to April, but if it falls on bare (if disgustingly ugly) grass, it would be so much easier to believe that it will melt quickly.
  • For neighbors who have already brought out their fire pit – and had a roaring fire last night to watch for the Super Moon (it was too overcast here to see it.) The smell and homey look of it across the street makes me want to uncover the patio table and bring the grill up from the garage.
  • For the gardening bug that always overtakes me this time of year – and the wisdom to look for help rather than thinking I can do it all at myself.

A paradox wrapped in an enigma playing the accordion. I'm a sinner-saint, child of God working at the cross-roads of church and world. A Deaconess called to connect people living near the center with people on the edge and to help your life sing (literally and figuratively) while doing it. People don't always get the deaconess part. Could be the swearing, the corporate job, or the wine.
