This Journey

Thoughts, rants, prayers, sermons I'll never give and other stuff gathered as I make my way through this life.

I have a new job!

Well, actually a small collection of things that will pay me enough to pay my bills and keep my children clothed and fed. Oh and I can go back on G’s health insurance, so that’s covered too.

I’ll be the part-time music director for a medium sized urban church that is really active in social justice – both direct service activities and policy advocacy. They’re working really hard on affordable housing and healthy communities (a complex collection of factors that touch everything from housing to pollution to access to health care.) They love to sing and while they don’t have a children’s choir school yet, they want me to help them start one.

Even though it’s part-time, I have had calls from a couple of different non-profit organizations who would like me to help with a couple of different leadership and organizational development projects. One wants me to consult with the board and staff around changing the org’s culture for the better, and another wants leadership coaching for the executive director around team building and staff direction/boundaries and such.

I have also been offered the opportunity to lead a Bridgebuilder’s process for a church out in the suburbs.

It’s early, but I think there might be enough in the consulting pipeline to keep things rolling through the end of the summer. But there’s time to do some prospecting so I’m feeling cautiously optimistic about keeping it going.

April Fool!

Author: Not Fainthearted

A paradox wrapped in an enigma playing the accordion. I'm a sinner-saint, child of God working at the cross-roads of church and world. A Deaconess called to connect people living near the center with people on the edge and to help your life sing (literally and figuratively) while doing it. People don't always get the deaconess part. Could be the swearing, the corporate job, or the wine.
