Grateful No. 12

In an effort to remain positive and focused on the good and blessings I am surrounded with in my life, here is a list of a few of the things I’m grateful for this week:

Getting the Big Icky Project done and completely off my desk (and into the hands of the vendor.)
Not having to go [...]

Grateful No. 11

As I said yesterday, it’s been a hell of a week. And yet, there have been things that were good. Little bits of hope that I must cling to in order to keep putting one foot in front of the other.

Not breaking the committment to myself to be healthier. Even though I ate particularly poorly [...]

Ninth Circle of Grateful

The ninth in a series of counting my blessings.

Technology actually worked to make my life easier by allowing me to schedule a dr. visit online on Sunday evening. Awesome.
Random phone call from Sister KA. And another from AH (that ended with dinner!) Just hearing these friends voices helped my energy level a bit.
Discovered a new [...]

Grateful Octave

Little things that made me happy this week:

Arriving home Sunday after church and having Libby the Wonder Poodle greet me. And a little later, to lay her head on my lap and snooze.
Boys who willingly mow the lawn weeds. Even if they do it so that we can go to the movies.
Being able to be [...]

Grateful - the 7th Edition

Stuff that made me happy this week:

Our interim associate pastor is unflappable. She added the installation service in at the last minute without a single whine, bitch or moan, and didn’t it with grace and confidence such that no one felt uncomfortable or awkward.
I got most of the dining room sanded, washed and primed over [...]

Six-pack of Grateful

Some of this stuff makes me happy in a "grin and bear it" or "look on the bright side" sort of way. Still, they’re blessings to be grateful for.

The boys have a dad who is still involved enough in their lives to take them on a road trip to watch baseball and soccer teams–bonding stuff.
When [...]

Annunciation

Announcement.
Yesterday was the commemoration of the day Mary found out she was pregnant. Can you imagine having the rest of the world for millennium know about (and remember) the day you realized you were late?

Above is an icon, the prototype is from the 1300’s (14th century) and below, a version of the same scene by [...]

Easter Sunday 2008

It’s still snowy here. In case you wondered.
It was great metaphor for the sermon today, though. Jesus’ resurrection being a kind of hope for the future like a guy standing knee deep in snow declaring it’s going to be summer soon.
Anyway. I thought I’d share a poem (hymn) from the vigil service last night. (yes, [...]

Three Days

It is Holy Week. In fact it is the end of Holy Week, which means that folks who work in the church are super stressed and busy. And folks who take the church year thing seriously are in church a LOT this week.
Yesterday, we heard and remembered Jesus’ Last Supper. What is often glossed over [...]
