A Hopeful Spring Meal

I thought I had an offsite meeting today at 4:00. Turns out it’s tomorrow. So I took the little bit of extra time and stopped at Lund’s on the way home. This particular one, on East Hennepin, is well known for people who “shop” while they’re shopping. It’s near downtown and near lots of riverside [...]

It’s just cabin fever….it’ll go away

Oh friends. My brain has been addled with all sorts of tomfoolery these last several days (and weeks.)
I’m staring down the barrel of a cannon’s worth of activity: TWO jobs, plus single parenting, plus Mr. Hockey; and all I can think of is adding more into the mix. What’s up with that??
I am desperately wanting [...]

Help!! Santa brought a smoker

Cross-posted at Accidental Hedonist
Santa has a habit of bringing a cooking gadget to Chez Journey every now and again.
The first year it was a electric chicken rotisserie oven. DS2 had seen them advertised on teevee that year and just thought that we HAD to have one.
The next year, it was a smoothie maker. Which, frankly [...]

Some done; More to go.

I got quite a lot done on Saturday. I didn’t want to. I wanted to just stay in bed and stare at the teevee. Between not feeling well and feeling lonely and frustrated with the amount of work that needs to be done before the 25th and no real help to get it done I [...]

I’ve got a plan

I’m feeling like ICK so I’m working from home today. I’m going to work s-l-o-w-l-y this morning. I’m going to drag myself out of the house into the frigid weather to have lunch with my dear friend KA. She’s almost done with her internship and already has her name out there for first call. She’s [...]

Food, Glorious Food!

I’ve mentioned before that this here bloggy thing is the longest continual journaling I’ve done in my life. And one of the best best BEST parts of it (IMHO) is that it is so easy to look back and see where I was a year or two ago at this same time.
This time of year [...]

Thursday’s Menu

I’m taking a break from the (agonizingly boring and icky) job of cleaning my house. One year, I’m going to hire someone to do it for me. Just like I say one year I’m going to spend Christmas in Tahiti.
I went to the grocery store today and it wasn’t too bad. I bumped into my [...]

bread, wine and which cheese?

So, Mr. Hockey and I are going to see “1408″ on Wednesday and I suggested a little picnic supper before hand. I thought cold (aka leftover from the night before) grilled salmon, a good crusty bread, a french white burgundy (Pouilly-Fuisse “La Roche” 2004) and cheese and strawberries….but what cheese?
btw- yay for computers and airport [...]

Aaaaand back to our regular programming

Yesterday was a blast.
First, I attempted to sleep in. But Libby the Wonder Poodle had different plans. Plans that included going outside to “hunt for wabbits” at 12:20, 3:30 and 6:15. And then at 9:15. (Sort of like this morning too. I really hate when she gets into these patterns.) I finally gave in and [...]

Tales from the scales

-0
+0, so I guess that’s the good news.
But for a week where I found too many days I didn’t have time to eat (sort of like last fall with CPE) I’m a little disappointed that it hasn’t resulted in any actual loss.
I know. I know. I have to eat enough to keep metabolism going and [...]
