Letter to my body

This post is in response to the BlogHer “Letter to my Body” campaign/project/thingy.
Hey Dear!
So I thought we’d take part in this because, you know, our relationship hasn’t been all that smooth over the years. Probably because I live too much in my head and haven’t appreciated often enough what you bring to this existence. Even [...]

there it is again. what if?

Vespers by Charlie May from Everette, WAJohn 11 "Lord, come and see."
In and around talking about the text he talked about devotions with his wife.
What if I actually got that? Someone who would/could have devotions with me in the morning….or anytime of the day? What if I could have a romantic relationship that included that [...]

Blue Moon

It must have been a slow news day in the Twin Cities because I saw the “what is a blue moon, anyway?” story at 5, 6 and 10. (common definition is the second full moon in a calendar month. Happens about once every 2.7 years. Apparently really important. Which I knew before they told me. [...]

Unrelenting lament

I remember being here. Finding myself in this ancient Hebrew song.
Does it help to know you’re not alone? Does it help to know that an ancient poet wrote this ode chronicling his (her?) time in the abyss? That someone else has felt as abandoned and helpless and hopeless as you do, now?
The poem helped me. [...]

Did it!

Finished by deadline! 5 course modules. There are two more for next week’s sessions, but I have until Monday to finish those.
The Gerhardt conference was good today. It was especially good for me to be there.
Not only to see my friends; although that was very good.
Not only to learn a little bit, not the least [...]

surprising side-effect? maybe not

Despite the sheer and utter fatigue I’ve felt for the last three weeks, I’ve noticed that one part of my life is more energized. I find that I’m praying much more than even during the worst parts of the divorce, or other hard parts of my life. I’m find myself praying for my patients, for [...]

How do people do this?

It’s all fine and dandy to say “pray” and “rely on your friends” and “strengthen your support network.”
When it comes to the end of the day, how do people get through this?
Isn’t it bad enough to realize that you can’t stay in the relationship anymore?
Even though this county tries to make the process “civilized” it [...]

The only thing left to do

You probably think I’m crazy. Well, actually, if you’re reading this, you probably know me and know I’m crazy but not for this reason.
I’m not sure how many people reach the level of stress I’m at these days. The only thing that seems to help is prayer and either the kind of prayer where I [...]

So today, GA and I both read in the newsletter that we are starting a new ministry at the new nearby nursing home.
Please note, that when PP talked about this in the staff meeting two weeks ago he said the following:

I don’t know if we should partner with this home or not. I don’t know [...]
