Getting better about asking

Well, I don’t know if this is actually better, but at least it’s more proactive than not doing anything.
Sent this email out tonight to about a dozen folks. We’ll see.

RE: Extreme Makeover: Garage Edition
OK friends, I find this a bit harder to do than it should be, but I need to ask for some help.
Last [...]

I Passed!

That’s right, ya’ll. I PASSED my motorcycle skills test and now HAVE my motorcycle endorsement! Woot!
It was a blast to find out that I can actually do it. I can drive a motorcycle.
That is about three-hundred degrees of empowering. Just saying.
The following is one of those “ToDo List” posts. You have been warned.
Now, that [...]

Squee!

I’ve done something just for me. I didn’t wait until I’d lost the weight or I found the perfect companion. It’s even better than the motorcycle class (coming up in just a few more weeks!!!!) and the membership to the YWCA (that I’m actually using!!!) but both of those will totally come in handy for [...]

Insomnia

I don’t know if it’s the weather change, the final stage of SAD, something to do with the level of stress I’ve been dealing with or some weird grief work I’m finish about Mr. Hockey, but I’ve had a bit of insomnia for the last week or so.
Libby the Adventure Poodle has played her part [...]

Letter to my body

This post is in response to the BlogHer “Letter to my Body” campaign/project/thingy.
Hey Dear!
So I thought we’d take part in this because, you know, our relationship hasn’t been all that smooth over the years. Probably because I live too much in my head and haven’t appreciated often enough what you bring to this existence. Even [...]

Conundrum

Or, “The one where I realize I’ve screwed myself over. Again.”
And no, this isn’t about the caucus.
Or is it?
I just finished Therapydoc’s post about SADs and realize that a large portion of what I’m feeling is just that. The deep end of it.
I haven’t been using my light regularly. I haven’t been able to take [...]

The Journey continues

There’s a lot of talk today about journeys and process.
Today is the beginning of the Christian season of Lent, a time to reflect on one’s spiritual life and to remember the whole death and resurrection part of the Jesus’ story.
Today there are large groups of people (campaign workers and candidates) who thought maybe possibly last [...]

approaching the wall

It’s one thing to find yourself at the bottom of the overwhelmies by surprise. It’s quite another to see it approaching. To watch the activity in your life increase, and increase and increase. And to know at some cellular level that the frantic out-of-control feeling is bearing down on you and will crash over you [...]

just pile it on, I guess

Santa came early yesterday. I took the boys to the store during the Vikings game (and it was predictably D.E.A.D.) and bought a new TV. One where you can actually see the movie that’s playing on it and not hear the dialog and some dark shadows flitting across the window.
Too much money was spent and [...]

The dreaded day has arrived

It can be put off no longer.
Tomorrow I must go shopping for dress pants. And business casual pants. And probably another pair of jeans.
I also need some sort of shoe that covers the toes because rumor has it, it’s not going to stay in the 60’s this winter in Minnesota so sandals are soon going [...]

Welcome!

Welcome to the new (and hopefully permanent) home of This Journey. It's good to have people walking along, especially during the bumpy parts. I can be contacted at not.fainthearted at gmail dot com. Or leave a comment!
