Music Monday- American Pie Edition

Almost forgot…. The music died 50 years ago. I found this an interesting music history take on one of my favorite songs (whether Don’s lyrics or Weird Al’s)
and just for giggles….

Christmahanukwanzaakah III

Neilochka is hosting the third annual Christmahanukwanzaakah Concert today. Pop on over there and have a listen/look-see.
Here’s my contribution to the festivities. It’s a twofer!!!
(I hope there’s a cool badge again this year!!)

Music Monday – Little Boxes

I’m writing this post on Sunday evening after a frustrating day of tech support at Chez Journey. I finally got my Mac back up and running in time to actually hope to get a certain job application turned in on time. Turns out I have to fill out a set of forms to go along [...]

Music Monday – Going on Vacation Edition

So, some of you know that I”ve been waiting, waiting, waiting to go on this vacation. I’ve been saving and worrying and saving and paying deposits and all sorts of baby steps since way back in January.
Thursday is the big day. I can hardly stand it. You’d think I was 7 years old and going [...]

Friday Dance Break

Ok. Maybe not the most “dance-able” 70’s tune. Still, it’s been going through my head for a couple of weeks (for some unknown reason) and today, at the coffee shop, I see an article about Joe and the Boys (a.k.a. The Eagles.)
I dial up the YouTube this afternoon and asked DS1 (a.k.a. mono-boy) if he [...]

So Many Nights

I don’t know how I missed it, but my boys The Cat Empire have a new CD out there. It was my prize for getting all my work done.

They are seriously the most fun I’ve heard in a long time. Their sound just makes me happy. Even over a year after hearing them on Letterman [...]

Live is harder than Memorex

The intonation isn’t the best I’ve heard from these guys. But in their defense, it was 10 am. If pictures are worth a thousand words, The Sound is worth at least that much. Can’t get it (the sound) from the pages of a magazine, you know.

Holly Cole at The Dakota

I am so glad I spent the money on myself to go to hear her! I probably didn’t need to splurge on a Walleye Cesear and a scotch, but I did anyway.
As the set started I realized that I haven’t been to see live Jazz since I was in New York City in 2000. That [...]

Tonight at The Dakota Jazz Club

I’ve purchased a ticket at the bar.
I hope she sings “God will” by Lyle Lovett. From her “Blame It On My Youth” CD.
Great lyrics (below). She’s on iTunes. Check her out.

Of course, she changes the gender…I like that too. God being she, and all.

Must be the June weddings?

Seriously. What’s up with all these March birthdays for musicians? Or at least musicians that I like or musicians I find significant in some way because they made an impact…even if the impact was/is “infamous” or goofy.
1940, 1946 and 1948. Isn’t it interesting what breadth a single decade produced?
