I can’t do everything; maybe I can do something.

Please. Start talking the truth to the people in your life who believe these outrageous lies.

Spring rain

We had a beautiful spring day here in the Twin Cities and a spring thunderstorm tonight, changing the face of the city; from grey and dirty and tired looking to green and fresh and full of hope.
And I was lucky enough to be out in it for a bit. I spent the morning at the [...]

1000 words

Or at least 1000 posts.
I know. I’m all about the milestones.
Today marks my 1000th post on this here little experiment. Of course, that counts even the lame ones (like this, this, this and this to point you to just a few examples of my ability to be lame.) (Note: this list is NOT exhaustive.)
Sometimes I [...]

Inspiration

That’s the word Laura B. chose for this week’s photo scavenger. Its a great word because it completely describes the feeling I got from attending the caucus on Tuesday.

To think that this scene was played out in meetings (what is the plural of caucus?) across this city, state and country inspires hope in me. Hope [...]

step up

if you haven’t already had the chance (I’m looking at you, Churlita!) many many many of us have the opportunity to participate in our democracy today.
Please take the time to vote or caucus today if you can.
I have my own struggle with my decision about whom to support (I’ll tell you all later.)
Participation is more [...]

narrowing it down

I was not impressed with the slap-down at the democratic debate. I was disappointed in both Obama and Clinton for engaging is such bullshit. That’s right. I said bullshit.
Is it possible that Edwards really is interested in economic justice? If so, my Feb 5 decision would be made easier.

Because sometimes satire makes me giggle

And in the mood I’ve been in, giggling is good.
Please go read this whole post.
Some of my favorite bits:
Since I just got done telling my Hunter S. Thompson story (in which I learn to drink tequila shots with cowboys at the Woodycreek Saloon while Thompson looks on from across the room.)
…we were prepared to abandon [...]

Primarily

So now Clinton and Obama are essentially tied and Edwards is a little further behind than he would like.
What bugs me most about the local pundits is that she broke above Obama because she “showed some emotion.”
So now, as strong women, we’re damned if we show emotions (“you’d want someone on PMS to have her [...]

Impeachment

There are several in my family who think that it’s unnecessary to continue “all this talk about impeachment” because “this is his last year” and “what good would it do” and some other on-the-fence kinds of arguments.
If any of those thoughts have crossed your mind, I urge you to read this very reasoned article by [...]

caucus night

I stayed up way too late last night watching the triumphant (?) return of my TeeVee boyfriend Craig Ferguson. (Letterman was better…Craig, you should have had a guest. just saying)
Tonight I did basically nothing. The boys were with their dad, Mr. Hockey was busy with outdoor hockey practice (not something I’m going to ask to [...]
